The town market opened with stacks of Export and Import crates at both gates. Everyone came to see whether the new Tariff would make people grumble or laugh.
At the fruit stall, one vendor had too much Commodity, while another had strong Demand but not enough Supply. As Currency wobbled and Inflation crept up, the town joked that Growth might take a nap and let Recession try the chair for a while.
The mayor introduced new Regulation and gave a Subsidy to local farmers. A Quota kept the busiest stall from swallowing the whole market, and people began comparing Exchange rates to see who was more Competitive.
By evening, the shops looked Stable again. The town found a Surplus in its ledger, Revenue went up, and the old Deficit finally had to admit defeat.
Word list: Fluctuate.
